Jerry Scally's first experience in the restaurant business was in the early 70's at the world reknowned Le Peroquet in Chicago, Illinois. His next endeavor was as co-owner of Texarkana in New York City, 1978-1989. Texarkana was the first restuarant to introduce haut American Regional Cuisine and was one of the top ten restaurants in New York for most of its 11 years. Jerry bought The Commons in April, 2006, renamed the restaurant LEVEL and created the juice bar PURE. The Commons complex contains LEVEL, THE COMMONS HOTEL and PURE. The hospitality business has been Jerry's avocation as he holds two doctorates and other advanced degrees. Before retiring in October, 2005, he made his living in medical software designing the U.S. NHTSA NASS, CIREN, SCI and other automotive crash injury analysis systems. His other avocation is the arts and he sits or has sat on many museum/theater committees and boards. He proudly is a trustee of the Alliance of the Arts for which he developed the NYC Cultural Database.
